About the Book
“When all the Japanese soldiers of the troop gathered together, they lined up with each one holding a bayonet in their hands to practice stabbing techniques with my father as a live target. My father screamed at each stab, streams of blood running out of the cuts. My father soon lost his voice, blood running out from all the holes dotted over his whole body. The Japanese soldiers didn’t stop even after my father’s death; they went on practicing until my father’s skeleton was seen after his flesh was cut off piece by piece like mud. Then the Japanese soldiers poured gasoline on my father and burned him to ashes, not even leaving a whole body for us to collect.”
–Yuan Guilong, male, born on April 22, 1934, a Nanjing Massacre survivor
图书介绍
The book is an authentic record of the tragic experiences of 130 survivors in the Nanjing Massacre of 1937, which documents the sufferings and pains of survivors and their relatives from the atrocities of the Japanese invaders, both physically and mentally for the past 80 years. It is the very first time that many of the victims disclosed their experiences. The passionate narrations of the victims strongly accuse the Japanese invaders of their brutalities during the Second World War. The narrations also provide important historical records for the study of the Nanjing Massacre and the War of Resistance against Japan.
