The book has been compiled partly from native manuscripts and Partly from information collected from Sikh Sardar’s and European officer’s in Sikh services; but mainly from the notes of captain Gardener of Sikh artillery who brought to light the intrigues of the Jammu family and proved that the Dogra chief were at the bottom of Kabul insurrection. The book begins with a chapter on the history of Ranjeet Singh family. The Author has made us believe that Sher Singh who was considered the Louis Phillipe of Lahore “The king of the People” was not the real son of Ranjeet Singh as he was passed. on along with, Tara Singh as twin sons of Metab Kaur, one of the two wives of Ranjeet Singh by Suda Kaur mother of Mehtab Kaur. Actually it was Dehan Singh, a sejanus to Ranjeet.
