Wang Shucun, the author of this book, is an expert on the collection and research of wood board Chinese New Year paintings. Some of his collections have been identified as national treasures. Nurtured by Chinese folk culture, Wang Shucun’s fame has been well established in the academic studies of Chinese New Year paintings. This book highlights his years of research and collection of Chinese New Year paintings. With excellent pictures and texts, the “abstruse” theories of Chinese New Year paintings are presented in a reader-friendly way.

Wang Shucun has been a research fellow at the China National Academy of Arts and vice president of the China Folk Arts Association. He has also been a member of the China Folk Customs Society. His major publications include Woodblock Printing Paintings of Peking Opera, A Collection of World Arts: Folk Art Treasures and Yangliuqing New Year Paintings.
Wang Haixia was vice dean of the National Center of Chinese Folk Arts Protection Project and dean of Folk Arts Studies Center of the China National Academy of Arts and a research fellow of Arts Institute. She is an M.A. supervisor in folk arts. Her major publications are China Folk Arts Sociology and A Comparative Study of Eastern and Western Folk Arts.

Wang Weixin is professor of English and Scottish literature at the College of Foreign Language and Literature, Shanghai Institute of Foreign Trade. He got his PhD from Shanghai International Studies University in 2008. His major academic interests are English literature and literary translation.
