The museum has a rich collection of cultural relics on Tibetan history and culture starting from the prehistoric period. The collection includes title-conferring documents issued in the feudal dynasties, imperial seals, gold albums and gifts. There are also numerous Buddha statues and figure paintings, rare sutras on pattra leaves and birch back, and manuscripts written with gold, silver or coral powder. The collection includes various printed Sanskrit and Tibetan scriptures, and colourful Tangka paintings in different styles. Unique Tibetan handicrafts, costumes, jewellery, gold ware, silver ware and jade ware are also in the collection.
